2024–2027 Genesis GV80 FAQ

Where is the cabin air filter, and what does it do?

2025–2027

The cabin air filter is behind the glove box and filters dust and other pollutants entering through the heating and air conditioning system.

2024

Have an authorized Genesis retailer replace the cabin air filter according to the maintenance schedule; dusty or rough-road driving requires more frequent inspections and changes.

What should I do if the ABS and brake fluid warning lights are both on?

2027

The braking system may not work normally, so avoid high-speed driving and abrupt braking, and have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Genesis retailer as soon as possible.

What should I do if the brake fluid warning light stays on?

2027

  1. If the warning light illuminates with the parking brake released, the brake fluid reservoir level is low.
  2. Drive carefully to the nearest safe location, stop with the engine off, check the brake fluid level, add fluid as required, and check all brake components for leaks.
  3. If a leak is found, the warning light remains on, or the brakes do not operate properly, do not drive and have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Genesis retailer.

Does dark automatic transmission fluid mean it needs replacement?

2027

No; fluid normally darkens as you drive, and color change alone does not mean replacement is needed.

Page 694 in the 2027 manual →

2025–2026

New automatic transmission fluid is red, but it normally becomes darker with driving, so color change alone does not require replacement.

Page 541 in the 2026 manual →

2024

Do not check the fluid under normal usage; have an authorized Genesis retailer change it according to the maintenance schedule.

Darkening from its original red color is normal and does not by itself require replacement, but use only the specified fluid because other fluid can cause malfunction or failure.

When does the cabin air filter need more frequent inspection or replacement?

2025–2026

Have it inspected and changed more often if you drive in severe conditions such as dusty or rough roads; otherwise, follow the maintenance schedule.

2024

Have the system inspected at an authorized Genesis retailer if the airflow rate suddenly decreases.

What does the check engine light mean?

2024

The Malfunction Indicator Lamp illuminates for about 3 seconds at startup, but otherwise indicates an emission control, engine, or powertrain malfunction; have it inspected by an authorized retailer of Genesis Branded products.

What should I do if the check engine light stays on?

2024

Driving with the light on may damage the emission control system, affect drivability or fuel economy, and potentially damage the catalytic converter or cause loss of engine power; have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible.
