Information stored on your device

The Saved pages feature uses your browser’s local storage. Saved manual page numbers remain on your device and can be removed by clearing saved pages or browser site data. The site also remembers, in the same storage, the last model year you opened on each model page.

Questions and problem reports you submit

If you ask a question or report a manual problem, the site stores the text, its moderation status and the selected manual. Approved questions can be shown publicly; problem reports remain private. A keyed, non-reversible fingerprint derived from the network address is stored for rate limiting; the community database does not store the address itself.

Searches inside a manual

When you search inside a manual, the site records the search words, the manual and the date so it can learn which topics owners look for. No network address or other identifier is stored with the search. Searches that contain links, email addresses or long numbers such as a VIN are not recorded.

Server logs

The web host may record standard request data such as an IP address, browser type, requested URL, time and response status for security, reliability and diagnostics.

Accounts, analytics and advertising

The current site does not offer user accounts and does not activate advertising or analytics cookies. This policy must be updated before analytics, advertising or another service that collects additional data is enabled.

External services

Links to NHTSA, Amazon and links contained in manuals open external sites governed by their own privacy policies. Amazon links may become affiliate links when a tracking tag is configured.

Policy changes

The date at the top of this page will change when this policy is revised.
