Why can displayed range decrease faster than the distance driven?

2025–2026

Displayed range is an EPA-based estimate that may not reflect your driving patterns or external conditions; use the Energy app for an estimate based on recent consumption.

2020

Use Instant Range in the Energy app for the latest data, or Average Range using 5, 15, or 30 miles (10, 25, or 50 km).

If you may go beyond known charging locations, choose an in-range charger from the list for navigation and its predicted energy on arrival.

What should I do if no red stop line appears at an upcoming intersection?

2021–2024

If no red stop line appears, Model 3 does not slow or stop, so monitor the intersection and take appropriate action yourself.

Never depend on Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control to decide whether to stop or proceed; watch the roadway and be ready to act immediately.

What should I do if my CCS charging adapter shows an electric arc flash hazard?

2021–2024

  1. Stop charging completely using the vehicle touchscreen and the charging station controls.
  2. Before unplugging, confirm no flashing green or blue light is visible on the vehicle charge port.
  3. Unplug the charging adapter from the vehicle, confirm the station shows no active session, then unplug it from the charge handle.
  4. Do not unplug while actively charging because an electric arc flash can cause serious bodily injury or property damage.

  3. On the touchscreen, select Controls > Locks, then touch the plus sign in the Keys section.
  4. Scan the new key on the reader behind the cup holders at the top of the center console, then remove it after recognition.
  5. Scan an already-authenticated key card or key fob on the same reader to complete authentication.
